About me
I believe that each person has the potential to uncover their own solutions. My role is to support an individual in this process, helping them gain insight into the underlying psychological drivers that impact their feelings and behaviours.
My counselling approach is integrative, meaning I draw from multiple theoretical frameworks. This flexibility allows me to tailor my methods to meet the unique needs of each client.
Primarily, I use psychodynamic therapy and CBT/ACT. Psychodynamic therapy helps uncover long-standing psychological patterns, while CBT and ACT address maladaptive cognitive processes that hinder a healthy life.
ACT, in particular, emphasizes behavioral changes necessary for building psychological flexibility and resilience.
I also draw on other modalities such as schema therapy/solution focused therapy/transactional analysis.
I work with both individuals and couples.
Areas of expertise
I work with individuals and couples, on a wide range of mental health issues. [See 'services' for a list of issues I work with].
I completed further training in systemic therapy a modality which focuses on interpersonal relationships in couples and families. This modality works to resolve behavioural and psychological patterns which are impeding a happy and cohesive relationship.
I worked with fire fighters for many years, so I also have experience of working with trauma and PTSD, utilising trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
